Prof. Jens-Peter Majschak has been Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging IVV since May 2021. In his role, he is also responsible for the Dresden site, which he has headed since 2017. In 2004, he was appointed to the chair of Processing Machines/Processing Technology at the Technische Universität Dresden (TU Dresden), which today belongs to the Institute of Natural Materials Technology of the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering.
Majschak studied processing machine design at TU Dresden, where he earned his doctorate in 1997. From 2004, he headed the Fraunhofer Application Center for Processing Machines and Packaging Technology AVV, founded in 1995 by Fraunhofer IVV and TU Dresden, and was one of the first three employees to play a key role in its establishment. In 2013, the Fraunhofer AVV first became the Branch office for Processing Machinery and Packaging Technology in Dresden and a little later the current institute Branch for Processing Technology. Prior to this, Majschak was head of the Technical Information Systems department at Fraunhofer IVV from 2002 to 2004.
In his current role, he also holds the position of Deputy Spokesperson of the Fraunhofer Lead Market Food.
Areas of expertise
In his current research, Prof. Majschak is concerned with processing properties and process modeling for the processing of polymer and natural fiber-based packaging materials, with a focus on forming and joining. Furthermore, his research focuses on the analysis, modeling and optimization of industrial cleaning processes in the food industry.
