About the Event

Food safety relies on reliable, resilient manufacturing processes. Food processing equipment needs to be readily cleaned between batches or different products, and resistant to fouling. Achieving this while minimizing the impact on the environment and consumption of resources as we head towards net zero is the challenge of the decade.

Understanding how to do this for new and existing products requires input from many stakeholders, including food scientists and microbiologists, engineers and industry.

The FCFP conferences are truly interdisciplinary and bring together those involved in hygienic manufacture operation and research from all over the world to share new results and explore how to meet the challenge.

The 2025 conference will take place from March 25 to 27, 2025 at the Penck Hotel in Dresden/Germany and continues the series of meetings that began in 1981 in Lund, Sweden.

Awards

»Young Researcher Award«

The Young Researcher Award is looking to reward outstanding papers of early career authors. It will be awarded among all submitted papers of young researchers. Young researchers are defined as researchers who have graduated within the last 5 years (excluding career breaks) at the time of submission of the paper or are currently in education related to the topic.

The author must have made a significant contribution to the paper.

Evaluation Criteria

Criteria this award will be judged against are:

  • Readability/presentation
  • Originality/novelty
  • Technical content
  • Value as catalysts
  • Overall relevance to the hygienic manufacturing

This is not necessarily a complete list, or in order of precedence.

Suitable papers are ranked in advance by members of the Scientific Committee based on the submitted versions. During the conference, the scientific committee discusses the best rated papers and selects a winner, who will be announced at the conference. The awarding of the prize is dependent upon author participation.

Prize Money

1st Place:     1,800 EUR

2nd Place:    1,300 EUR

3rd Place:       800 EUR

»Best Poster Award«

A Best Poster Award will be awarded among all poster contributions. The judging criteria are the same as for the Young Researcher Award, but without any restriction on the graduation period. Delegates are invited to vote for the best poster during the conference. The scientific committee selects a winner based on these recommendations, who will be announced at the conference. The awarding of the prize is dependent upon author participation.

Prize Money

1st Place:     1,500 EUR

2nd Place:    1,000 EUR

3rd Place:       500 EUR
