Sensor Cleaning Systems

Integrated Cleaning Solutions for Vehicle Sensors

Sensorgestützte Reinigungssysteme in Anwendung an einem Fahrzeug.

Reliable Functionality Through Clean Sensors

We design customized solutions for cleaning sensors in vehicles and mobile machinery. Using advanced simulation tools, we optimize cleaning systems in the development phase and evaluate them in practice-oriented cleaning studies on our test benches.

In addition, we construct dedicated test benches to replicate the environmental influences that sensors are exposed to in real-world operation, and we provide comprehensive detection systems for the precise identification of sensor surface contamination that may impair functionality.

Clean Sensors – Safe Driving: Challenges for Clear Vision Systems

Sensor Cleaning Systems (SCS) - also referred to as Clear Vision Systems (CVS), Clear Vision Safety Systems (CVSS), or Advanced Sensor Cleaning Systems (ASCS) - are essential for the safety of automated driving and driver assistance functions, as they remove contamination and deposits from sensors and cameras.

With the steadily increasing number of sensors in modern vehicles, these systems must operate efficiently with minimal cleaning fluid consumption. Targeted, demand-driven cleaning is essential. This means cleaning should only occur when contamination is detected, ideally in an adaptive manner based on the actual contamination state.

It is also crucial to analyze under which environmental conditions sensor functionality can be maintained in order to ensure stable and reliable operation. In particular, vehicles must be able to detect when adverse conditions compromise functionality and subsequently initiate appropriate safety-related measures..

Our Expertise: From Simulation to Validation

We offer comprehensive solutions for sensor cleaning systems: from simulation and optimization of cleaning processes, through the development of precise detection systems for identifying contamination or other factors affecting sensor signals, to the construction of test benches for validation under real-world conditions.

With our interdisciplinary expertise in innovative cleaning technologies, sensor systems, mechanical and process engineering, and advanced testing facilities, we are a reliable partner for all challenges related to the safety-critical cleanliness of vehicle sensors.
