Dr. Angela Störmer appointed to the Committee for Consumer Products of the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment
Dr. Angela Störmer has been appointed by the President of the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) as a full member of the Committee for Consumer Products. The scientist and quality management representative at our institute will thus strengthen the committee, which is composed of representatives from science, industry and consumer protection associations, testing laboratories, and private laboratories.
Dr. Störmer brings many years of experience from her work at Fraunhofer IVV to the commission's work, particularly with regard to the migration of substances into food and other filling materials, as well as conformity assessment. Through her voluntary work, she will use her expertise to advise the BfR and contribute to the development of practical solutions. She attaches particular importance to professional exchange and discussion of current topics of high relevance to consumers. “With her appointment to this commission, which is very important for consumer protection, Angela Störmer is continuing our institute's long-standing representation on this committee,” said Prof. Dr. Andrea Büttner, managing director of the Fraunhofer IVV. Dr. Angela Störmer's membership in the commission will run from 2026 to 2029.
The Commission for Consumer Products advises the BfR on the health assessment of materials that come into contact with food, toys, and textiles. It develops recommendations that directly serve the safety and protection of consumers. A particular focus is on the potential health risks of substances in food contact materials.
