The ANUTEC BRAZIL is one of the most important trade fairs for the Brazilian food industry. As its organizer Koelnmesse held a discussion forum on August 4th 2016 on the topic of
Sustainability and the future of the meat industry
Which was attended by
- Alexandre Martins Moreira, Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging IVV, Campinas, Brasilien
- Fernando Sampaino, President Brazilian Beef Industry Association
- Ricardo Santin, President Brazilian Animal Protein Association
The discussion’s basis was the problem of the ever growing world population and the closely related rise in the global meat consumption. This also opens up new opportunities for the meat industry, which can gain access to new markets by using plant proteins as a resource for food products such as meat surrogates.
For many years the Fraunhofer IVV has been doing research in respect to the area of bio-economy on sustainable use and production of plant proteins as well as value added usage of residues along the production chain of plant proteins.
