Dr. Claudia Schönweitz has been Deputy Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging IVV since 2009. In her role, she has been Head of Business Development and Marketing since 2015. She is also responsible for the institute administration and drives the strategy and its implementation within the institute's management.
Claudia Schönweitz studied chemistry at the Technical University of Munich, where she received her doctorate in 1996. Her career at the Fraunhofer IVV began in 1997. Since then, she has held various positions in which she was primarily responsible for research management for the strategic development of the institute's business areas. Another focus of her work was the successful establishment of research cooperations with the industry. In addition, her work was characterized by the acquisition and coordination of numerous multidisciplinary, international research projects, primarily in the field of packaging development.
In her role as Deputy Director of the institute and Head of Business Development, she has played a key role in shaping the institute's development in recent years and continued to drive it forward. She brings her expertise from the private sector to developing strategic management and business areas in particular. Thanks to Schönweitz's interdisciplinary networking in Germany and abroad, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft has been a partner of the European research association EIT Food since 2016. Claudia Schönweitz represents the interests of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and the participating Fraunhofer Institutes in the committees.
