Fraunhofer IVV in Freising
The Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging IVV leads the way in applied research for the secure supply of high-quality food products and for sustainable packaging systems. Around 350 scientists work on groundbreaking products, processes and technologies at our locations in Freising and Dresden.
At Fraunhofer IVV in Freising, we are researching new, health-conscious foods as well as safe and sustainable packaging. We are also working on recycling processes that make it possible to reproduce high-quality materials from recyclates as part of the circular economy. From the raw material to the packaged product, we balance techno-functional properties with physiological and psychological requirements and potentials to achieve optimum product performance.
Freising itself is characterized by a long history of excellence in nutrition and food research, leading to today's outstanding competence cluster. Apart from Fraunhofer IVV as a research and development institute with a focus on industry, it is also home to other renowned university and research institutions such as the Weihenstephan Campus with the University of Applied Sciences Weihenstephan-Triesdorf and the TUM School of Life Sciences. This results in innovative developments and important stimuli for business and science.
