DIFFA26 Symposium at Fraunhofer IVV: Direct Analysis for Product Development and Process Control
Direct injection analysis offers new opportunities for data-driven product development – a technology that reveals molecular changes in products in real time. From 14–16 October 2026, technological developments and representative applications will be presented at the DIFFA26 – Direct Injection Food Flavor Analytics international symposium that will take place at the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging IVV in Freising, Germany. Specialists and managers in product development, quality assurance, and process optimization will learn how to accelerate their processes for food, packaging, consumer goods, and other applications.
Understanding the dynamic changes in a product’s flavor and odor composition during development, processing, or storage is crucial for product quality and performance. Conventional analytical approaches are often too slow to track these changes in real time. Using direct-injection methods, molecular changes in the product can be detected directly during processing, thereby avoiding time-consuming sample preparation and discontinuous analyses. Chemical data provide a reliable basis for decision-making and offer several advantages for product development, including the monitoring and adjustment of process steps, the early detection of quality impairments, and the avoidance of undesirable, cost-intensive starting products.
Application examples from the food and beverage, packaging, pet food, and household appliance development sectors demonstrate how the data-driven approach supports efficient and resource-conserving product development.
